Congratulations to the nearly 600 racers that participated in our very first international race, Great Urban Race Toronto! The weather held out for us and it turned out to be a gorgeous day!

Participants navigated the streets of Toronto and completed a variety of crazy activities! Racers conquered their fear of creepy crawlers by holding scorpions, tarantulas and snakes in the Distillery District, added pizzazz to Miss Cora's Cupcakes before indulging in the sweet treat, learned the "science of eight limbs" from Lanna Muay Thai's fantastic instructors and tested their patience by creating an Origami Crane outside The Paper Place.

A special thanks to everyone who donated supplies to the Canadian Mental Health Association. They truly appreciated all of your support!

Jennifer Filippelli and Jillian Paul of team LP Power came bolting through the finish line in an astounding time of 2:14! Great race girls! David Cowan and Brett Bergmann of You Point I Run crossed the finish at 2:37 followed by Jeremy Paul and Jaime Macrae of Team Redundancy Team at 2:42 to round out our Top Three.

Janet, Jeannine, Seth & Colson of JDJ9 & The Boys were our Top Family Team, crossing the finish line at 3:27! Great teamwork!

After a clap off between some outstanding costumes, Samantha Landrigan & Michelle Walk stole the show with their creative Run Forest Run outfits! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day!

Many thanks to our amazing volunteers from St. Jude, the great Loose Moose staff, all of our clue locations, and all of our participants. The GUR crew had an amazing time in Toronto and we look forward to returning in 2011!

Have you ever participated in a GUR before?
No, never.

How did you prepare for the race?
We drank the night before. It was all about the vodka-Red Bull.

What was your overall race strategy?
Don’t yell at each other too much and plan your route beforehand and always run.

Did anything go wrong during the race?
We missed one of the clues at the Distillery.

What was your favorite clue? Why?
I liked the tic-tac-toe because it allowed you to do it throughout the race.

What was the most memorable part of the day?
WINNING!

Any secrets to your success that you’d be willing to share?
Go hard or go home. Always be thinking about winning.
