Why did you have fun participating in The Great Urban Race?
We always thought we'd made a great team for the Amazing Race, and GUR is certainly equivalent to that! We like working hard and competing, but we also are both pretty goofy and just like to have a good time. We spent quite a large part of the day cracking up over some of the challenges and obstacles!
How do you know each other?
We met freshman year of high school in homeroom -- which was 10 years ago! Despite going to different colleges and living in different cities post college, we've stayed in touch and been great friends ever since.
What's your favorite part about participating in The Great Urban Race?
Just coming together and competing with others who have similar mindsets-- people who like physical and mental challenges, like to be active, and like to have a good time.
Why would you recommend The Great Urban Race?
The races are very well run-- the GUR crew really has their act together. So if you like to solve puzzles, run around and do crazy things, and just overall challenge yourself, definitely sign up for a GUR. We had a great time, and I'm sure we will at Nationals as well!
Thoughts about The Great Urban Race?
I'm just glad we came across the opportunity to participate in the DC race. I'm sure we'll do it again next year, whether in DC or another city. I live in Baltimore, so if you're looking for another city to start a new race... :)
We’ll be returning to The Nation’s Capital again in 2009! Teams will find checkpoints, complete challenges and navigate the streets of areas like Georgetown, Chinatown and Downtown.
$10,000 Grand Prize at the New Orleans National Championship.
