Why did you have fun participating in The Great Urban Race?
It was both physically and mentally challenging. It's also great to run by people who wonder what you are doing. The strange looks are awesome!!

How do you know each other?
We met in college at ASU in 1994 and have been together ever since. We couldn't imagine doing this without each other. Shawn is the Yin and Brenda is the Yang.

What's your favorite part about participating in The Great Urban Race?
Solving the clues. It's great to realize that all those years in school actually paid off. It's also great to see all the other people just as lost as you are sometimes.

Why would you recommend The Great Urban Race?
Where else can you get all the excitement of a scavenger hunt with the added bonus of exercise, followed by being able to get away with dressing up like it's Halloween. It's just a great day.

Thoughts about The Great Urban Race?
DO THIS RACE!! We had a blast in Phoenix and at the National Championships in Las Vegas. We will continue to be out there every year having fun, and if we win.....drinks on us!

The light rail opened just in time for this year's Great Urban Race!

From Encanto Park to the Heard Museum, 161 energentic teams spread out across Phoenix.  Teams completed an inflatable obstacle course, gobbled up an ear of corn, untangled the dreaded horsehoe puzzle, collected over $700 for the non-profit Hands On Greater Phoenix, along with many other fun challenges.

Thanks to all the racers who came to the race, Chris and crew from Hands On, John and Lars from Sliders, as well as our other helpful volunteers helped create an exciting day.

We had a blast with all of you and the GUR Crew is excited to return to The Valley in 2010!  Hopefully we'll see some of you in New Orleans in November!
