We had yet another great race at our first annual GUR DC!

The costumes contunue to improve with each passing race and the competition continues to get more serious (people from 20 different states came to compete in GUR DC)!

DC racers zipped all over town in our most difficult race yet!  After many penalties given, Team McGee ended up in 1st place overall with a time of 2:48.

Team Ida Ho finished second overall in 3:21 and Peanut Butter Jelly Time rounded out the top three in 3:23.

A big thanks to Stephanie, Maureen, and Ashley from HopeRuns for helping with the event and thanks to all the racers who entered the HopeRuns raffle.

Congratulations to Jeffrey and Joy Welan of Team Race for Joy for being our first ever team to compete in the wheelchair division!  Great race!

We look forward to returning to DC in 2009 for a better race!

DC participants say...

"My friends and I had a great time participating and competing in the DC GUR. We can't stop telling the rest of our friends how great it was and we are definitely looking forward to more races in the future. Thanks!"

"I had a great time at the DC race! The diversity and enthusiasm of the participants was great."

"What a thrill!! Very exciting and great way to learn more about DC."

"One of the best times I have had in a long time. Everyone was really nice, laidback and all well organized!"

"My 15-year old daughter and I had a blast!! we love watching the Amazing Race and this really met our expectations."

"One of the most fun races I've ever done!!"

"We had a blast - what a neat way to see a city!"

"Wonderful time.... great experience. My first time out so I didn't know what to expect. Had a great time."

"We had a great time last weekend and are already planning on which cities to do in 2009! It was so much fun thanks for a great race."

"It was our first one and a TOTAL BLAST !!!! Definitely coming back for more."

"The best way to spend your birthday!"

"Awesome, great idea, great fun, learned alot about DC. It was the most fun I had in years."

"Very Fun!!! Would love to do it again next year."

"Looooooooved it! Still sore!"

"My friends and I had a blast. I have already made plans and recruited other participants for next year."

"Staff was very friendly and dealt very well with 170 over-excited teams. We will definitely be participating again next year and we'll bring other teams with us. Thanks for providing a great event and hopefully some of the strangers who asked us why we were runnning around DC in Kilts will register next year also."

"Initially I signed up for the race in Boston, but I was able to transfer my registration to DC. I appreciated how willing and flexible everyone was to help me. I did the race with a friend and we both loved every second of it. Well done."

"We were very impressed! Everything was very well-organized and the questions were great. We look forward to participating again next year!!"

"Please come back to DC in 2009. My wife and I had the time of our lives traversing DC via rail and foot. Cheers to those who organized the race."

"I really enjoyed the race, it was a great time for my wife and I to do something challenging together. It made our bond stronger and I realize that we make a great team. I knew it before, but now it is more evident."

"Overall it was a fantastic experience! It was very well organized and executed. We were so pleasantly surprised by the camaraderie of all the teams--everyone pulled together to make it a great afternoon. We'll be back next year!"

"It was a fun experience - the staff did a great job keeping it well run and it was organized despite the crowds. Great job by all!"

"Already recommended to others and plan on joining again 2009 DC and other cities as well. WONDERFUL event ... glad we found it. Thanks."
