Congratulations to all participants who made Great Urban Race Madison such a huge success! The weather held out for us as over 500 racers took to the city for a fun filled day of adventure. Participants navigated through the streets of Madison and completed a variety of unique activities that required patience, brains, and plenty of bravery - airbag anyone?
Miller 64 and Chevrolet also added a great new element to this year's race! Moving cans into the shape of a 64 proved more challenging than many expected, while hopping inside a Chevy Sonic Hatchback, Chevy Cruze Eco, or Chevy Cruze gave racers the chance to test their math skills while finding all the cool features on this line of Chevrolet vehicles.
A special thanks to everyone who donated much-needed supplies to Porchlight - your efforts are truly appreciated! Thank you to St. Jude who provided excellent volunteers, as well as supported racers running on behalf of the hospital! Congratulations Three Awesome Ladies, One Lucky Guy, this year's St. Jude Challenge winner!
Special shout outs to our first, second, and third place teams who all receive a free entry to the 2012 Championship Race and will have the chance to compete for $10,000! In first place, ATeam, came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 2:17! These Guys Again came in exactly five minutes later, crossing the finish line at 2:22! And one minute after that, Maximus Kickassimus came bolting through the arch just a hair behind with a time of 2:23! Congratulations to our very fast, and very close, Top Three Teams!
The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume nominees. After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, it was Microbros that won the crowd over! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.
Thank you again to our St. Jude volunteers, Porchlight, Miller 64, Chevrolet, Yelp, all of our clue locations and of course, all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!
