Congratulations to the 500 Masterminds that came out to participate in Great Urban Race Boston!

Participants navigated, and even crab walked, the streets of Boston and completed a wide variety of exciting activities! You tossed fish and banded lobster claws at the Sargent’s Wharf, competed in a relay race at Powder House Square, and got “frosted” at Kick Ass Cupcakes!

A special thank you to everyone who donated $5 to the Ronald McDonald House Boston at Shaws. Your donations made a huge difference and the families and staff at Ronald McDonald House Boston truly appreciate your efforts!

The first place team was The Fast and The Furious who crossed the finish line at 2:51:48! Vignette was a close second at 3:05:02, followed by Zack Attack with a time of 3:09:17 to round out our top three.

After an intense clap-off between some outstanding costumes, the Mustafarians won the Costume Contest! These three ladies stole the show with their salt and pepper mustaches and safari costumes. A special thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day!

In addition, a huge thank you to our St. Jude Top Fundraisers, The Hairy Fairies! Our Boston St. Jude Heroes raised an amazing total of nearly $1,668.00!

Thank you to all of our St. Jude volunteers, our sponsors Miller 64 and Chevrolet, Ronald McDonald House Boston, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time in Boston thanks to you all!

CHAMPIONSHIP INTERVIEW
With The Fast and The Furious

Have you ever participated in a GUR before?

This is our 3rd year participating in GUR Boston! We also went to the Championship last year in New Orleans.

How did you prepare for the race?

We have an idea of what our team will be. Then we get together a few weeks before to decide who does what. Besides that we just run!

What was your overall race strategy?

We figured out the first location and started to head there. Then we sent the clues to our ground support to find out the rest.

Did anything go wrong during the race?

We barely missed two trains. This caused us an extra 7-8 minutes at least.

What was your favorite clue? Why?

Boston Lobster Tour! I have never tossed a fish with buttered hands before!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The fish toss again! It was memorable because our hands will smell like lobster and butter the rest of the day!
