Congratulations to all of the participants who made Great Urban Race Austin such a huge success! Hundreds of racers braved the heat and came to Aussie’s seeking adventure and wearing lots of creative costumes. Participants navigated the streets of Austin and completed a variety of unique activities including shooting paintball guns downtown, getting pied in the face, and holding (and eating) exotic, among many other great feats. A special thanks to everyone who donated needed supplies to the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. They truly appreciate your efforts!

At first place, the veteran racers of Team Vignette came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 1:22! FreeToRun came in a very close second, crossing the finish line at 1:23! The Dirty Sanchezes locked in third place just behind them with the time of 1:56 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the Las Vegas Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize! A big shout out also goes to our Miller64th Place Team, Team Shmevening. Kimberly and Greg, congratulations on your slightly above average performance, you will also qualify for the Las Vegas Championship along with the rest of Top 25 Teams.

The costume contest was full of great get-ups, and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume Nominees. After a close clap-off, Average Joes were awarded the coveted Best Costume Award and $15 gift certificate to Aussies! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, the Aussie’s Grill and Beach Bar staff, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR crew had an awesome time in Austin and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!
