Congratulations to all participants who made our Great Urban Race San Francisco a huge success for the fifth year in a row! Over 250 teams came out to Mars Bar and Grill seeking adventure and wearing crazy costumes. During the race, participants navigated through the streets and neighborhoods of San Francisco completing a variety of unique activities, from circuit training at Crunch Fitness, indulging in a delightful bite at Kara’s Cupcakes, making a balloon animal at A Child’s Delight, to pairing beers at Thirsty Bear Brewery.
A special thanks to everyone who donated items to Boys Hope Girls Hope of San Francisco. Your donations made a huge impact and will help this amazing organization continue to support young minds and their academic achievements. And also, huge thanks to our sponsor FUZE, who provided racers with samplings of flavored water, as well as sunglasses and sweatbands!
In first place, The Tweedles came bolting through the finish line with an astounding time of 2:28! Star-Belly Sneetches came in second, crossing the finish line at 2:49! In third place, Gals –a ‘cookinfinished not far behind at 2:54. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize! Additional congratulations to our Top Family Team, HOO RAH!
A big thank you to our St. Jude Fundraising Winner, “Tired Twin Parents” who also happened to be our St. Jude Challenge Winner! As the winner, they are also eligible to compete in the New Orleans Championship on November 12, 2011!
The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our best costume nominees. Salt-N-Pepa took home the prize after a tough clap off with the likes of the Tele-Tubbies and Jersery Shore crew! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.
Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, Mars Bar and Grill, FUZE, Boys Hope Girls Hope, all of our clue locations and of course, all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!
