Congratulations to all of the participants who made Great Urban Race Salt Lake City such a huge success! It was quite a sight as participants gathered at Lumpys Downtown seeking adventure and wearing lots of creative costumes.

Participants navigated the streets of Salt Lake City and completed a variety of unique activities, from pumping up a bike tire at Wasatch Touring, to "growing" their own juice mustache at Luna Berry Yogurt, to from peeling potatoes to help "One World Everyone Eats" get ahead with food preparations!

A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to The Christmas Box International. Your donations made a huge difference and they truly appreciate your efforts!

At first place A Team came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 2:09! Two Timers came in a very close second, crossing the finish line at 2:10! DABES2 locked in third place with a time of 2:11 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize!

A big thank you to our St. Jude fundraising winner, Old Is Just A Numbers! Another congratulations goes out to our Top Family Next Stop, Phil with a time of 2:31.

The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume Nominees. After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, Stames took home the title! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.

Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, The Christmas Box International, Lumpy's staff, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR crew had an amazing time!

CHAMPIONSHIP INTERVIEW
With A Team

Have you ever participated in a GUR before?

No, this is our first time!

How did you prepare for the race?

We didn't really do anything. This being our first time, we weren't sure what to expect.

What was your overall race strategy?

We wanted to follow our first instinct and organize our route so we didn't waste time back-tracking.

Did anything go wrong during the race?

No.

What was your favorite clue? Why?

Tic-tac-toe: We were able to ask complete strangers for help.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Finishing the race together in first place.

Any secrets to your success that you’d be willing to share?

Communication and phone-a-friend.
