CHAMPIONSHIP INTERVIEW
With Team Seminoles
Congratulations to all of the participants who made Great Urban Race Normal such a huge success! We kicked off ISU's Homecoming week with over 50 teams came out to the ISU Student Fitness Center seeking adventure and wearing lots of creative costumes.
Participants navigated the streets of Bloomington-Normal and completed a variety of unique activities including an improv game at The Children's Discovery Museum, testing their core skills at Adkin's Pilates, creating a Chicago Dog while blindfolded at Windy City Wieners and refining their very fine motor skills at Specs Around Town.
At first place Hip-Hop Anonymous came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 1:22! One of the Most Best Teams in GUR History came in second, crossing the finish line at 1:27! Engaged in Nonsense locked in third place with a time of 1:29 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize!
A big thank you to our St. Jude Challenge winners as well as the St. Jude fundraising winners, Remembering Frank and Jane! As the winner, they are also eligible to compete in the New Orleans Championship.
Congratulations to The Three Blind Mice, our Top Family Team! Awesome job guys!
The costume contest was full of great costumes! The audience at the Pub II enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume Nominees, especially the live action rendition of Angry Birds. In the end, The Three Blind Mice stole the show! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.
Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, ISU Alumni Association, ISU Student Fitness Center, Pub II, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR crew had an amazing time and hopes everyone has a great Homecoming week!

CHAMPIONSHIP INTERVIEW
With Joel Brigham & Kyle Brigham first place Hip-Hop Anonymous
Have you ever participated in a GUR before? | Yup, last year here in Normal and the 2011 Chicago race. |
How did you prepare for the race? | One of us ran 15 miles a week, the other just drank heavily the night before. |
What was your overall race strategy? | Plan early, then run ahead (public transportation is for wimps)! |
Did anything go wrong during the race? | Nothing, actually. You need a little luck to win and we got lucky with timing in a few places. |
What was your favorite clue? Why? | Improv magic show. We nailed it. |
What was the most memorable part of the day? | Nothing. We'll always remember the Great Urban Race. |
Any secrets to your success that you'd be willing to share? | If there are any long stretches, run those first while you're still rested and energetic. Then hit all the stops on the run back. |
