Great Urban Race’s visit to Music City was a great success! The nearly 200 participants solved 12 clues throughout downtown Nashville with fantastic costumes and great energy! A special thank you to our host Wildhorse Saloon and Chipotle for sponsoring a fun clue at Morgan Park!

Since Nashville is home to great music, participants had a taste of being a country star at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau! The Cocoa Tree made delicious cherry blossom truffles and is donating all proceeds to help in the Japanese Tsunami Relief.  Yum! Chocolate never tasted so good!

Beautiful flower bouquets were created at Oshi Flowers and participants solved questions about the history of peanuts at the Peanut Shop! Hundreds of eggs were hidden at the Cupcake Collection where participants dabbled in fun cupcake trivia. The world's largest cupcake weighed 1,224 lbs! Thank you to the Savannah Tea Company and 417 Union for being a part of our day, as well!

Many thanks to all of you who donated items to Hands on Nashville! Your donations are very much appreciated and will help Hands on Nashville continue their efforts coordinating service opportunities. 

Congratulation to our first place team, Team Kmita, for their winning time of 1:36! Victorious Secret made a great impression with their 2nd place finish and a time of 1:38. Degeneration X finished next with a time of 1:48 and proudly wearing their St. Jude’s Hero cape to make them the first St. Jude’s Hero to cross the finish line! All three teams will receive a free entry to our New Orleans National Championship where they will compete for a $10,000 grand prize!

A huge thanks goes to our St. Jude Fundraising Winner, Bubblegum Mafia. Your donation to St. Jude is greatly appreciated! As the top fundraiser, they also qualify to compete in our 2011 National Championship.

We had a GREAT turnout for the costume contest! All participants had creative and outrageous costumes, but ultimately the crowd decided and the Women on the Rocks prevailed. Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added even more excitement to the day.

A special thanks to our St. Jude volunteers, Wildhorse Saloon, Chipotle, our clue locations and all of our enthusiastic participants. The GUR crew had a phenomenal time and hope to see you all in 2012.

Have you ever participated in GUR before?	No.
How did you prepare for the race?	We printed a map of downtown Nashville, but ended up not using it.
What was your overall race strategy?	Start at the farthest clue and work our way back.
Did anything go wrong during the race?	Not really.
What was your favorite clue?  Why?	Shaking the dog’s paw because I love animals!
What was the most memorable part of the day?	Singing on the stage at the Bridgestone Arena.
Any secrets to your success that you'd be willing to share?	Have fun and run fast!
