RACEDAY RECAP
Great Urban Race Miami was a great success! Thank you to the 200 racers that came out to Finnegan’s River on Saturday and to Chipotle for giving away gift cards for free burritos!
Participants ran all over downtown Miami wearing crazy costumes and solving 12 clues. Some clues involved identifying the scent of three unique beers at the Democratic Republic of Beer while others learned a new massage technique at Miami Skin Boutique. Participants unleashed their inner-creativity while drawing their own comic strip at the Miami-Dade Public Library. Showing off their best acting skills was a walk in the park for our outgoing participants at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts.
A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. Your donations will help this local charity continue their mission helping low-income families!
Team Nguyen, the first place team, ran through the finish line with the fastest time of 2:07! Always Winning came in second place with a time of 2:22! Third place was awarded to Crossfit Bayton Beach with an impressive time of 2:24! The Top Three teams receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 grand prize!
A big thank you to our St. Jude fundraising winner, Wayne’s World who is also eligible to compete in the New Orleans Championship. Pretty Fast Girls is our St. Jude challenge winner! Crossing the finish line with a time of 4:31 was Hope, Strength & Love, our top family team! The costume contest was full of great costumes but there is only one winner. By round of applause, Shark Attack won Best Costume! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day!
Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, Chipotle, Finnegan’s River staff, our clue locations and all of our amazing participants. The GUR crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!

| How did you prepare for the race? | We went & partied last night but made sure we had an alarm set! |
| What was your overall race strategy? | We solved all the clues first, plotted the route, ran to the farthest location and worked our way back. |
| Did anything go wrong during the race? | Guessed the wrong sculpture at first, but weren't too far off. |
| What was your favorite clue? Why? | The Gusman Theater- 80's film nite is going to be great! |
| What was the most memorable part of the day? | The congo line with a bunch of ravers at the music fest. |
| Any secrets to your success that you’d be willing to share? | Running beats public transport in MiamiĀ |
