Congratulations to all of the participants who made Great Urban Race Houston such a huge success! Despite the heat, nearly 550 racers came out to Lucky’s Pub seeking adventure and wearing lots of creative costumes.

Participants navigated the streets of Houston and completed a variety of unique activities, from learning to Belly Dance at Ervan Chew Park honing their graffiti skills at Aerosol Warfare, getting a work out at Timberline Fitness, and enjoying a sweet treat at The Chocolate Bar!
A special thanks to everyone who donated to the Houston Food Bank! Your donations made a huge difference to families in need and they truly appreciate your efforts!

At first place The Nerd Herdcame dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 2:36! We’ve Got the Runs came in second, crossing the finish line at 2:43! Earthbound locked in third place with a time of 2:47 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize!

A big thank you to our St. Jude fundraising winner, St. Judo Chop! As the winner, they are also eligible to compete in the New Orleans Championship. Also, congratulations to our St. Jude Challenge winner, Eastbound and Down!

Congratulations to Round Topers, our Top Family Team! Awesome job guys!

The costume contest was one of our largest to date and full of great costumes! The audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume Nominees. After an intense clap-off between some outstanding costumes and creative hairdos, Hot Sauerkraut came out on top! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.

Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, The Houston Food Bank, Lucky’s Pub staff, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone in Houston next year!

Have you ever participated in GUR before?	No, we are first-timers!
How did you prepare for the race?	We brought maps and our phones, that’s all.
What was your overall race strategy?	We took a bus to the farthest point and solved the clues while on the bus.
Did anything go wrong during the race?	The heat! Other than that the race went really well.
What was your favorite clue? Why?	Our favorite clue was the chocolate bar because it was a food clue.
What was the most memorable part of the day?	There are multiple things! Running really far, coming in first place and our bus driver!
Any secrets to your success that you'd be willing to share?	When you get the sheet be sure to map out all of the clues first.
