Congratulations to the 275 racers who helped make Great Urban Race Dallas a huge success! The sunny, warm weather was the perfect compliment to a fun filled day of adventure.

Participants navigated through the streets of Dallas and completed a variety of unique activities, including tossing popcorn at The Pocket Sandwich Theater, a ping pong volley at Brackets, team puzzle building at Learning Express Toys and Name-That-Tune cupcake sampling at Trailercakes!

A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to Mosaic Family Services. Your donations helped serve and empower individuals and families in the Dallas community. They truly appreciate your efforts!

In first place, Sid's Superducks came flying across the finish line in just 1:29:02! The Rusty Mallets came in second, crossing the finish line at 1:36:01! Team Sparks came in with a time of 1:43:06 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize! Also a big congratulations to our Top Family Team, The Champions!

A big thank you to our St. Jude Fundraising Winner, The Doctor's Companions! As our top fundraising team, they automatically qualify for the New Orleans Championship. Also, congratulations to the St. Jude Challenge winner, Probst Toasties!

The costume contest had so many great costumes, not everyone could fit on stage! In a clap off between Wayne's World, Swamp Dogs and Surf 'n' Turf, the showmanship of Wayne's World landed them the grand prize. Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day. Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, Chipotle, Fuze, Mosaic Family Services, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time!

CHAMPIONSHIP INTERVIEW
With Andrew Ireland and Anthony Guibert of first place, Sid's Superducks

Have you ever participated in a GUR before?

This was our first time! We are friends with this year's Seattle, Portland, Denver and Manhattan winners and they encouraged us to do it.

How did you prepare for the race?

Last weekend we ran a race as well. We just know each other well and can rely on one another.

What was your overall race strategy?

Stay on a straight path and keep a decent pace!

Did anything go wrong during the race?

We took one wrong turn out of the CVS and missed Pokey O's, but it worked out okay.

What was your favorite clue? Why?

We liked The Pocket Sandwich Theater. We nailed all five popcorn tosses right off the bat!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The home stretch. We had to push each other, but both of us finished strong.

Any secrets to your success that you’d be willing to share?

Ground Support is a must!
