Great Urban Race’s first time in Brooklyn was a huge success! More than 200 participants solved 12 clues throughout Brooklyn with fantastic costumes and great energy!
Participants were sent to unique locations all around the Brooklyn area. Participants were sent to some “hidden gems”. Activities included identifying herbs at Meet Other People and Cook, matching guitars with their famous owners at the Brooklyn Guitar School and mastering Yoga poses at Green Fitness Studio.
Many thanks to all of you who donated items to our local charity partner, Housing Works. Your donations are very much appreciated and will help Housing Works continue their efforts.
Congratulation to our first place team, The Replacements, for their winning time of 2:47! Crossfire made a great impression with their 2nd place finish and a time of 2:49. Scalawags rounded out the top three with a finish time of 2:55. All three teams will receive a free entry to our New Orleans National Championship where they will compete for a $10,000 grand prize!
Proudly wearing their St. Jude’s Hero cape, Bromance crossed the finish line making them the St. Jude’s Challenge winners! Also, a huge thanks goes to our St. Jude Fundraising Winner, Magickal Tendencies. Your donation to St. Jude is greatly appreciated! As the top fundraiser, they also qualify to compete in our 2011 National Championship.
We had a GREAT turnout for the costume contest! All participants had creative and outrageous costumes, but ultimately the crowd decided and the Belmont Bombshells prevailed. Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added even more excitement to the day.
A special thanks to our St. Jude volunteers, the Brooklyn Bowl, all of our fantastic clue locations and our enthusiastic participants. The GUR crew had a phenomenal time and hope to see you all in 2012.
