What’s a Hero?

Every year thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer. These kids are fighting for their lives. They’re heroes. 

At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, doctors and researchers are battling some of the toughest cases of cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Their discoveries and treatments are giving these families hope. They’re heroes.

YOU can be a hero, too. Participate in the Great Urban Race as a St. Jude Hero and raise money to help children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. You’ll be a hero to kids in communities all across the country and around the world.

It costs $1.5 million a day to operate St. Jude, where families never receive a bill from the hospital, and no child is denied treatment because of the family’s inability pay.  This is why St. Jude needs your help. Become a St. Jude Hero, set a goal and raise money to help the children of St. Jude. 

Raise at least $250 and you will qualify for exclusive race day prizes, including your own St. Jude Heroes cape. More important, that $250 could cover the cost of two chest X-rays for patients. Raising $360 could pay for an hour of physical therapy, while raising $771 could provide a day of chemotherapy. 

St. Jude will send you a fundraising kit (including an EASY-TO-USE website) and give you support along the way.  As a bonus, for each participant who registers as a Hero, the Great Urban Race will donate $10 to St. Jude.
