Thanks to the 220 Madison racers who competed in our first Great Urban Race Madison!  Energetic, costumed teams took Madison by storm!  Tipped canoes, thunderstorms, and Humpty Dumpty were all part of Saturday's fun!

Thanks to Rebecca Thorman and MAGNET for being outstanding sponsors for our first Madison event!  We look forward to returning in 2009!

Thanks to NBC for the great news coverage of the event!

Team Great Urban Legends touched the finish mat first, but were penalized 30 minutes for missing one photo.  Anne Whisner and Jason Theobald of A-Team touched the finish mat in 1:58 and were crowned champions of our first Madison race!

Six minutes later Jeanne Gradowski and Sarah Leadley from Team Lovely Lakes finished second.

Team Shamless Shixas finished third in 2:05.

Power Players won best costume (running during the race with Mario Bros. theme music playing).

Best Photos went to Chubby Bunnies.

Irish Mafia was the winning family team finishing 19th overall and qualifying for the Championships - great race!

Champions Interview (A-Team):

What was your race strategy?

Go with the flow.  Sit down and read all clues first.

Did you study anything before the race?

Madison history that was useless, bus routes, and a Madison map.

How do you know each other?

Soccer teammates.

Which clue did you do first?  Why?

Monona Terrace - because it was close.

Any advice for other Great Urban Racers?

Patience, strategy, and willing to talk with other teams.  Run!
