Congratulations to all participants who made Great Urban Race Kansas City such a great success! 127 racers came out to McFadden’s seeking adventure and wearing creative costumes.
Participants navigated through the streets of Kansas City and completed a variety of unique activities, from learning some Induro Cycling moves at Scott’s Fitness, sipping on unique fresh juices at Succotash, using their sense of smell to decipher tea flavors at Crossroads Coffeehouse and brightening someone’s day of with a cheerful homemade card.
A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to Ronald McDonald house. Your donations made a huge difference for patients and their families. They truly appreciate your efforts!
In first place, Green Lightning came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 1:57! The Way 2 B came in second, crossing the finish line at 2:01! Seymour of the City came in just a hair behind with a time of 2:05 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize!
Congratulations to Riggs Family, our Top Family Team, who crossed the finish line at a time of 3:23. Great job!
Congrats to our St. Jude Challenge winner, Wabash Cannonballers. A huge thanks to our St. Jude Top Fundraiser, Mommy Needs a Time Out, which raised over $1,000!
The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume nominees. After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, Fully Loaded Spuds took the title! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.
Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City, McFadden’s, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!
