Congratulations to all participants who made Great Urban Race Chicago such a huge success! Over 800 racers came out to Joe’s on Weed Street seeking adventure and wearing creative costumes.
Participants navigated through the streets of Chicago and completed a variety of unique activities, from learning some self-defense moves at The Peace School, snacking on savory empanadas at Lito’s Empanadas, using their sense of smell to decipher locally crafted brews and crafting their very own baker’s hat.
A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to CircEsteem Your donations made a huge difference and they truly appreciate your efforts!
In first place, Hooba hooba came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 2:28! Team Gatlinbuuurg came in second, crossing the finish line at 2:34:07! Bradylan came in just a hair behind with a time of 2:34:30 to round out our Top Three. These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize! Congratulations to M*A*L*T*E, our Top Family Team, who crossed the finish line at a time of 3:01. Great job!
Congrats to our St. Jude Challenge winner, Bradylan. A huge thanks to our St. Jude Top Fundraiser, Directionally Challenged, which raised over $2,500!
The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume nominees. After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, Lawyers turned Mormon won the title! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.
Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, CircEsteem, Joes on Weed and all of our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!
