Congratulations to all participants who made Great Urban Race Boston such a huge success!  A little rain couldn’t keep the 901 racers from a fun filled day of adventure. 

Participants navigated through the streets of Boston and completed a variety of unique activities, including acting out scenes with the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, sipping refreshing cinnamon and lavender infused lemonade at Clover Food Lab and deciphering codes written in Swahili, Portuguese and more.

A special thanks to everyone who donated much needed supplies to Room to Grow.  Your donations helped to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty.  They truly appreciate your efforts!

In first place, The Fast & The Furious came dashing through the finish line with an astounding time of 1:34:18! Central Time came in second, crossing the finish line at 2:05:08!  The Zack Attack came in just a hair behind with a time of 2:05:30 to round out our Top Three.  These teams also receive a free entry to the New Orleans Championship where they will compete for the $10,000 prize!

Congratulations to our Top Family Team, White Thunder, who crossed the finish line at a time of 4:01.   Great job!

A big thank you to our St. Jude Fundraising Winner, The Bee Line!  As the winner, they are also eligible to compete in the New Orleans Championship.  Congratulations to our St. Jude Challenge winner, Good & Plenty!

The costume contest was full of great costumes and the audience enjoyed a show from all of our Best Costume nominees.  After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, Team RamRod won the crowd over! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day.

Thank you to our St. Jude volunteers, Room to Grow, our clue locations and all of our phenomenal participants.  The GUR Crew had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!

With The Fast & the Furious

Have you ever participated in a GUR before?	Yes
How did you prepare for the race?	We had a lot of fun last year, but realized it would be more fun if we were fit.
What was your overall race strategy?	We saw a Harvard Square clue and booked it. Solved the other clues on the train!
Did anything go wrong during the race?	Bus #1 was so full it just blew past us!
What was your favorite clue? Why?	Acting out the play! Unbeknownst to us, our helpers put us on speakerphone and got a good laugh out of it.
What was the most memorable part of the day?	Getting caught in the downpour!
Any secrets to your success that you’d be willing to share?	Having helpful friends who were as pumped about the race as we were.
